Revolution

Farewell reign of anguish
The flowers beneath your feet lay trampled and blown

The times that I laid beside you

Are gone like a thousand years in a guillotine’s stroke
Stare out in silence

…is all I can dare

The revolution dances

Around this heart I bare

Dark nights and haunted dreams

Lay slain around your throne with their banners torn

Wounded and hardly breathing

The diamonds and emeralds kept will be locked and spared

Stare out in silence

…is all I can dare

The revolution dances

Around this heart I bare

Siege

Your eyes are like armies
That sack cities in hearts they lay siege to
A pair that Menelaus wouldn't even dare to stare
Even the finest cataphracts could never charge into
The tender spears that march in your vanguard's dare
Woe to this poor conscript...a flimsy armor he unwillingly dons
Upon which your arrows and maces... merciless and enchanting
Pierce his flesh and breaks his bones
To bring him down to die a lowly infantryman's death
Bloodied and mangled in this battlefield of regret
